Kate was such a trooper and stayed at Magic Kingdom all day with no nap and being up since 4:30am. It was Sam and I who were the ones dragging. After a yummy dinner at 'Ohana we headed back to the room and were in bed by 6:30.

Day 1 at Magic Kingdom!

After our big surprise with Kate, we hopped on a plane, headed to the Contemporary Hotel, grabbed a bite to eat, and were at the Magic Kingdom by 10:00am! What a whirlwind of a morning, but our day was just getting started. We headed straight to Fantasyland and hit all the rides, surprisingly without long waits, and even got some rides in at Tomorrowland and Adventureland.

Surprise!

For the last few months, we having been planning a surprise trip to Disney World for Kate. I have been so excited about this that I don't know how I kept a secret for the past four months. On Wednesday, we woke Kate up at 4:30 am (we had to catch a 6:15 am flight) and told her to come down stairs for a big surprise. Normally, it takes her a little while to wake up, however, when we told her we had a big surprise, she sprung out of bed and still half asleep wobbled down stairs. Kate started looking through her backpack and was so excited for her activity pads, princess fruit snacks and crayons that she thought that was her surprise. We asked her where all of those characters lived and she said, "Disney World." Then Sam asked her if she would like to change clothes right now, get on an airplane and go to Disney World, Kate looked at him like, "What did you just say??" It took her a second or two to process everything, then she started laughing and pure excitement set in! So much fun at 4:30 in the morning! What a long, fun-filled day we had ahead of us!

New Obsession

Our 3 1/2 year old's new obsession around the house this week...the iphone. While we were waiting for our pizza at Davenport's (those who go, know it always takes forever...but totally worth it!), Sam did something he said he would never do - let Kate play games on his iphone. We have now created an iphone monster. We have to stress to her that it's not a toy and only limit her to only a few minutes a day....why did we ever start this...

Ready for the Office

Kate's school was closed for MLK Day, so I took the day off and we picked up Sam at his office for lunch. She was SOOO excited to go to daddy's office that when I told her to pick out a toy that she can take in the car, this is what she came up with..... her purse, necklace and cell phone in hand, ready to head up to daddy's work. We had fun visiting with Sam's co-workers and a yummy lunch at Davenport's Pizza.

Kate has been waiting and waiting to play outside with her t-ball set. After Christmas, it seemed like it was either rainy or cold every day. Then over New Year's, she was sick, so we let her play with it in the house. We're happy to report there was no damage! Finally she got to take a few swings before the next rain set in.

Ringing In 2012...

...with the crud. Kate has been congested since Friday, but last night it turned into a full blown fever and congestion. She's been pitiful all day today with a 103 fever and just wanting to lay either on the couch or go to her bed. We're ready to have our healthy little girl back.

Kate has been wanting to get out her t-ball set that we gave her for Christmas but the weather has been bad and now that it's finally nice outside, she's sick. So, we let her open it in the house. Sam and I have been placing bets on how long it takes before something is broken! Ha!

(Update 1/4/12: After 5 days of still not feeling better and fever, I took Kate to the doctor and she has a good 'ole case of strep throat. After making her choke down the medicine and lots tears that came along with it, she's feeling much better. However, we still have 9 more days of antibiotic to take...yikes. She definitely takes after her mommy who doesn't like taking medicine either.)

Cookies for Santa

We headed back from Moulton on Christmas eve in time to set out cookies and milk for Santa (and some treats for the reindeer). As sweet as it was watching her load up a plate of cookies for Santa, my favorite part of the evening happened just before. All through December, we had two elfs at our house: Buddy (The Elf on the Shelf) and Ellie (Elf Magic). Part of the deal with the elves are that they are there for December but on Christmas eve, they have to go back to their home at the North Pole with Santa. So, Buddy, the elf that we can't touch, was perched on the mantle ready for Santa's arrival so he could go back to the North Pole. However, Ellie, the elf that Kate could play with, has to be placed under the Christmas tree so Santa knows where to find her. I have been trying to prepare Kate for their departure on Christmas eve as she had gotten pretty attached to her elves this year. When I told her it was time to place Ellie under the tree, Kate put Ellie under the tree and said in the most sweet, sincere, and endearing voice, "Ellie, I love you and I sure am going to miss you." She sat there quietly for a moment then finished saying her sweet goodbyes to Ellie. Aaahh! Brought tears to my eyes. So sweet. I wish I could bottle her up and keep her at this age forever!

A New Christmas 'Do

Kate was long over do for a haircut, so Gran managed to fit one in while we were there for Christmas. Thanks Gran!

We headed up to Moulton to spend the day before Christmas with Gran, Papa & the James'. It was so much fun as always and Kate got in lots of cousin time in with Daniel and Laura Ann. She absolutely loves every second of her time with them. We then headed up to Mawmaw & Pawpaw's for a yummy Christmas Eve dinner.

Oh What Fun It Is To....

...Have a fun filled day! While Sam was at work, Aunt Haley and I took Kate to see "Arthur Christmas" at the movies. We followed it up with making & decorating Christmas cookies and more presents!
