The Fruits of Papa's Labor

We made a whirlwind trip to Moulton today. It included lunch with Grandmama Compton, visiting with Reta, Mawmaw & Pawpaw, picking fruits and veggies out of Papa's garden, and finally a stop on the way out of town to meet Baby Porter. Whew! I think Kate's favorite part was Papa's garden. Once he showed her how to pick cherry tomatoes off the vine, she couldn't get enough of the "U-Pick 'Em & Eat 'Em" concept. We love all of the fresh fruit and vegetables that Papa's garden puts out every summer! Also, Kate helped Papa pick a watermelon out of the garden and we got to bring it home to enjoy. When we would ask her what she picked out of the garden, she would say, " I picked a BIG pumpkin!"

Big Girl Bed!

We started out this morning with this.....

And we ended the day with this.....

We decided to go ahead and move Kate to a big girl bed today. I kept asking her all week if she was excited about her new bed, and most of the time she would respond with, "No, no, no, mommy." But I wasn't sure that she understood what was really going on. Well, before naptime, we showed her new bed and she loved it. Naptime today has never been so much fun for Kate. After about an hour, she finally fell asleep. Tonight was much easier after we had gone over all of the ground rules from this afternoon...i.e..no jumping/standing on the bed, etc. Tonight has really hit me that my baby is not in a crib anymore!

Happy 4th of July!

After the morning at the Aquarium, we spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool and celebrating 4th of July. Kate was a little hesitant of the pool on the first day, but by the end of the trip, she was a little fish! Kate loved celebrating the 4th by helping put out flags, blowing pinwheels & bubbles.

Houston Aquarium- Day 2

While Grandpa & Sam managed to squeeze in another round of golf in the morning, Linda and I took Kate to the Houston Aquarium. Kate was captivated by all of the fish, alligators, octopus, snakes, etc. We ate lunch at the restaurant in the aquarium and it was great! It had huge tanks that you sat and watched the fish as you ate. Lot of fun!

Houston - Day 1

After the long trip the day before trying to get to Houston, Linda, Kate & I had a nice relaxing morning at the house while Grandpa and Sam played golf. After Kate's nap, we headed to the Children's Museum of Houston. I think the adults were more worn out than the 2 yr old.

Houston, Here We Come!

We flew to Houston on Friday to spend 4th of July with Grandpa and Linda. Kate was so excited about riding on an airplane! We talked about it for days leading up to the trip. There were some minor setbacks with our travel plans due to Hurricane Alex though. After 2 hours of delays at the airport and an additional hour and a half sitting on the runway due to the severe storms in Houston, we finally made it there 7 hours later! Kate did great through it all and was such a little trooper.
