Ode to the Paci....A Thing of the Past

Kate is officially done with her pacis. I wasn't planning on taking it away from her for a few more months, but on Sunday and Monday night she would play in her bed before she went to sleep. When I went in to check on her, she had thrown her paci out of the bed both nights and fallen asleep without it. So, I tried not giving it to her after bathtime on Tuesday night and she's done fine ever since. This marks her fifth night without it, so I think we're in the clear. We're pleasantly surprised that she didn't have the slightest problem with this since we've heard horror stories of crossing this hurdle. As happy as I am that she's doing so well at bedtime without it, I'm so sad my baby is growing up. Oh paci, we will miss you!

Sunday Afternoon at the Park

We took Kate to the park and to the ice cream shop this afternoon. I'm surprised that my child doesn't really care for ice cream given that Sam and I have such sweet tooths! Anyways, here's some pics of the fun at the park.
On a side note, Sam and I had our first date 7 years ago today. I can't believe it's already been 7 years!

Back from the Grocery Store

Sam took Kate on a quick trip to Publix and when they returned, Kate came through the door grinning from ear to ear with a balloon Sam got her. She loved shaking it as hard as she could all throughout the house, not to mention tease Mattie with it. Sam also surprised me with some flowers. Who knew a trip to the grocery would put a smile on the two females in the Compton household?

Everyday...

Everday while I am getting Kate's dinner ready, she goes through the pool bag and takes everything out. She always gets her sunglasses out first then procedes to dump the rest of the bag out.

Crayons!

I got some crayons for Kate this weekend to see what she would do with them. The two main goals were: 1. not to eat them, and 2. color on the paper, not the table. I think she did well with both and had lots of fun. Sam and I have a tendency to try and get her to be a lefty since we're both left-handed, but we can't tell which hand she prefers. Either way, she had fun playing with the crayons.

Happy 4th of July!

The James' invited us over for a 4th of July party in the backyard. Kate had a blast playing in the water with Daniel & Laura Ann! There were lots of giggles from Kate, especially when she would find a ball! That is her latest obsession. Haley & Gran made such good food. The flag cake was definitely Kate's favorite (and mine too!). Thanks for lots of 4th of July fun.

Playdate with the Lathams

We invited the Lathams over for a playdate at the pool on Friday. Anna Kate and Kate had the best time between playing on the splash pad and the baby pool. I didn't get a good picture of them together because they were on the move the entire time. By the end of the day, I think we had two girls who were worn out from all the fun at the pool!

Sick Day??

Yesterday, I stayed home with Kate and took her to the doctor. This morning Sam and I debated on taking her to school or just keeping her home one more day since she was still somewhat under the weather. So, Sam stayed home with her and this is what I found on my camera later that afternoon.

Does this look like a sick child to you?? She really was still sick, but had lots of fun with Sam! Apparently, she loved dancing & bouncing on her chair to the Imagination Movers in her jammies. Not very safe, but had fun nonetheless.

This afternoon I was putting Kate's clothes away in her closet and she found her play gym from when she was a baby. She kept messing with it, so I brought it out and she loved playing with again. An oldie but a goodie!
